Speak about the photo for 90 seconds. Describe what you see and what you think is happening.

Model answer

The photo shows a busy outdoor market, probably in the late afternoon judging by the long shadows. In the foreground there's a woman arranging vegetables on a low table — mostly greens and tomatoes — and she seems to be talking to a customer who's pointing at something. Behind them I can see several other stalls under coloured umbrellas, and a boy on a bicycle weaving between shoppers. What strikes me is how ordinary and unhurried it looks; nobody seems to be in a rush. I'd guess this is a daily market rather than a tourist one, because the people are carrying plain shopping bags rather than cameras.

Some people think technology makes us less social. Others disagree. What is your opinion? Speak for up to 3 minutes.

Model answer

My view is that technology doesn't make us less social — it changes who we're social with. I'll give two reasons. First, it removes distance. My closest friend moved to Canada four years ago, and without messaging apps that friendship would simply have faded, the way my parents' friendships faded when people moved. Second, it lowers the cost of joining a group. I'm part of an online community of about two hundred people who all study languages, and I've had more genuine conversations there than at any event I've attended in person. Having said that, I do see a real cost. The conversations are shallower on average, because it's easy to leave — you can close a chat window, and you can't close a dinner table. So my conclusion is that technology has widened our circles and thinned them at the same time, and whether that's a net loss depends on what you needed more of.

3 phút là rất dài với hầu hết người học. Dùng khung 4 khối: quan điểm → lý do 1 + ví dụ thật → lý do 2 + ví dụ thật → nhượng bộ rồi chốt. Mỗi khối ~40 giây. Chuẩn bị 2 ví dụ CÁ NHÂN cho mọi chủ đề thường gặp.
